Netball team brave the midnight walk for Ashgate Hospice
03 Jul 2009
A number of members of the IM netball team successfully completed the 13 mile Midnight Walk for Ashgate Hospice in Chesterfield on Saturday 20th June, raising over £850
Sarah Tagg, Rachael Davis, Kerry Sutton, Louisa Donaghy, Hannah Clifford and Claire Hunt took part in the walk, which went from Cliffe Park in Dronfield to Ashgate Hospice in Chesterfield and back. All completed the walk in less than five hours. Some 1400 people took part in the walk for the Hospice, many donning flashing bunny ears and pink cowgirl hats, and so far over £123,000 has been pledged from this event alone.
Sarah said "It was a lengthy walk which was made more difficult due to the time it took place and the fact we had not slept beforehand but the atmosphere and support throughout the walk was tremendous. The Ashgate Hospice is a fantastic cause and they help so many people, it was nice to be able to support such a worthy event and we hope that we can reach our £1,000 target before sponsorship has to be finalised in August. We would like to thank everyone who sponsored us for this event and encourage anyone who has yet to sponsor to do so".
The girls hope to exceed their target of £1,000 before sponsorship handover has to be finalised in early August. Anyone wishing to sponsor the cause can do so by logging on to justgiving.com/sarahtaggmidnightwalk or making pledges to one of the above named participants.
