New government strategy promotes high quality end of life care

16 Jul 2008

The Department of Health has recently put together an end of life care strategy in a bid to promote high quality health and social care for all following the NHS Next Stage Review.

The strategy, known as the End of Life Care Strategy, has been initiated by an expert advisory board that supports the view that adults approaching the end of their life should be able to make informed choices about how and where they would like to be cared for up until their death.

The new scheme aims to acknowledge personal wishes and offer as much support as possible to those concerned.
