Charity Boat Race for Disability North
04 May 2010
A team from the Newcastle office took part in a charity paddle boat race on Sunday 25th April in aid of Disability North. This is a charity that promotes inclusion, independence and choice for disabled people in the North.
Competitors included Muckle LLP, Northumbria Police, The Co-Op and the NHS. We had to race 200 metres on the River Tyne. Having found out we were racing against two police teams, we arranged for a practice session on a Sunday afternoon. Our competitive streak took us to the final and we won our heat! There were three heats each with five boats racing against the clock.
Unfortunately we didn't win the final, the winners were the Co-Op whose team was included 10 huge men so we had no hope! We did win best team captain for being the loudest so the team have a free night out at the dogs so we did win something!
This was also the first trip out for Orson Newcastle and enjoyed the fame of being our team mascot.
Over £500 was raised for charity by the IM team and it was an excellent team building day.
