Keratectomy: an operation in which part of the cornea is removed, often by laser, to correct short sight
Keyhole surgery: also known as minimally invasive surgery. Surgery using an operating laparoscope or other endoscope to perform surgery causing as little physical trauma to the patient as possibly. For example, laparoscopy cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal)
Kidney: either of the pair of organs responsible for excretion of urea from the blood. Situated at the back of the abdomen either side of the spine
Kiss of life: also known as mouth-to-mouth respiration
Knee: the hinge joint joining the end of the femur and the top of the tibia
Knock-knee: abnormal in-curving of the legs. Can place stress upon the knee, ankle and foot joints, possibly leading to degenerative arthritis
Kyphoscoliosis: combination of kyphosis and scoliosis causing an abnormal curvature of the spine forwards and sideways
Kyphosis: abnormal outward curving of the spine, causing a hunching of the back
