Failure to diagnose bladder tear leads to fistula
In October 2006 Sarah underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy as she suffered from gynaecological problems for a number of years.
Unfortunately during the surgery Sarah's bladder wall was torn but her surgeon failed to notice. She returned to hospital after a few days complaining of extreme pain but again the tear was not picked up.
The tear got bigger and developed into a fistula which was eventually diagnosed. Sarah then needed extensive surgery to repair the tear as it had been left for so long.
Sarah had private surgery and is now making a good recovery.
We were able to secure damages of £40,000.00 for Sarah.
