Incontinence due to bowel operation
After suffering from long term constipation, Karen was referred to a consultant at the local private hospital by her GP.
After increasing Karen’s fluid and medicine intake and carrying out a few tests, the consultant decided that Karen required a major operation to remove her stomach and bowel. Following the surgery Karen suffered faecal incontinence and became extremely lethargic due to low absorption in her bowels meaning that she had to give up work.
Expert evidence confirmed that insufficient investigation had been carried out prior to Karen’s surgery and so she pursued her claim against the private surgeon. With the assistance of Tim Deeming, Karen received a substantial six figure settlement.
