I would like to thank you for the resulting letter of apology from the health trust. However small those results may seem I have taken great comfort in drawing closure over a part of my life I can now put to rest.

Incorrect medication brings on premature labour

Mrs X fell pregnant with her third child in 1997 and when she was 25 weeks pregnant she visited her GP as she was suffering from lower back pain.

The GP prescribed Mrs X incorrect medication that brought about premature labour.

Baby X was born at 25 weeks and weighed just 860g. He was ventilated and oxygen dependant for the first 2 months of life.

Over the next few years baby X showed a delay in meeting his milestones and had significant learning difficulties. Baby X was subsequently diagnosed with ADHD and other behavioural problems associated with his extreme prematurity.

Mrs X brought a claim on behalf of Baby X against the GP who had prescribed the medication.

The claim was settled for the sum of £630,000.00 up to Baby X's 18th birthday.

We return to Court in 2015 to quantify the remaining losses.
