Failure in monitoring heart rate
Nicky was diagnosed with cerebral palsy caused by brain injuries she had suffered during birth when her mother, Claudia, was inappropriately monitored during labour.
Nicky’s distress and inappropriate heartbeat had gone unnoticed during labour when Claudia had gone for long periods without being checked by staff in hospital.
Claudia pursued a claim against the local NHS Trust, with the assistance of Lisa Jordan, and received a settlement payment of £1.25m as a lump sum followed by annual payments for Nicky each year.
