Man dies after developing pressure sores
Carol-Ann Knott brought a claim in respect of the treatment her father received whilst a patient at Leeds General Infirmary from January to April 2006.
He was admitted into hospital following a suspected fall. During his admission he developed multiple pressure sores. One on his hip extended to the bone and he suffered septicaemia. He passed away in June 2006. It was alleged that as a result of failures in his care, he developed pressure sore damage. The cumulative effect of the pain, infection and debilitation from the multiple sores caused his demise sooner than would otherwise have occurred. The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust admitted liability and Carol-Ann on behalf of her father's estate, received £20,000 by way of an out of court settlement.
