Woman dies after gastric bypass surgery
When a woman was dissatisfied with the results of dieting and anti-obesity drugs she decided to try gastric bypass surgery, which took place at Hull and East Riding Hospital.
Unfortunately complications arose because of the surgery and she developed a kidney infection and peritonitis, which led to her death.
An inquest followed, where the family’s solicitors helped to find out why the infection had developed after the surgery and also helped the family consider whether to pursue a claim for medical negligence.
