Tom is a Partner with the Medical Law and Patients' Rights team and is based in Sheffield. Tom's work is wide-ranging, from missed diagnoses of fractures to complex birth injury claims.
He currently has a particular interest in spinal neurological claims and recently settled a claim on behalf of a 38 year-old woman (due to failure to diagnose and treat a serious progressive spinal condition) for over £500,000. Tom has also been extensively involved over the past few years with the vCJD Trust, representing families of victims with claims for psychiatric injury and particular hardship.
Tom is responsible for liaison with legal expense insurers on clinical negligence cases handled by Irwin Mitchell and is on the committee of the South Yorkshire Medico-Legal Society; a forum for discussion and debate on medico-legal issues.
Outside of work Tom's time is mainly taken up with family life. His 3 boys keep him active with their many clubs and hobbies, and weekends often involve walks in the Peak District. Tom is also heavily involved in his church, particularly with finance issues and youth work.
