Laura is a Solicitor in the London office. She joined Irwin Mitchell as a trainee solicitor and has since qualified into the Clinical Negligence department specialising solely in clinical negligence claims.
Laura manages her own caseload and also assists Ian Christian on cases such as birth injury cases, (including claims for still birth, Erb's palsy and cerebral palsy injuries), fatal claims, delay in diagnosis of cancer and cases of surgical negligence. Laura's caseload has recently included fatal claims brought under the Human Rights Act, claims for rectal wall injury following prostate surgery and Erb’s palsy claims.
Laura assisted Ian Christian on a Cerebral Palsy case for a child who sustained a serious brain injury following insufficient monitoring upon attending A&E with breathing difficulties. His case settled for £3million pounds plus annual payments of £114,000 to cover the ongoing costs of care and case management. Laura is also involved in helping several families who were affected by an outbreak of endocarditis at the Trent Cardiac Centre in Nottingham.
Laura has been involved in many charity fundraising events since joining Irwin Mitchell. Her fundraising events include running 5 half marathons and several 10k and 5k races for various charities such as the Homerton Hospital, The Maypole Project, Brainwave and Brake , participating in two 8 hour dance marathons for Headway, dragon boat racing to raise funds for the Back Up Trust, and participating in an ‘It’s a knockout’ tournament to raise money for the King’s College Hospital Charity. She is currently training for her first marathon.
Laura has been accredited with litigator status by the Association of Personal injury Lawyers and plays an active role in the firm’s gender diversity and junior lawyers’ groups.
Outside work Laura enjoys travelling, spending time with family & friends and keeping fit.
