Jemma is a Solicitor based in London. Jemma joined Irwin Mitchell in 2008 when she qualified as a solicitor, having previously trained on the South Coast in the areas of personal injury and clinical negligence.
Jemma specialises solely in clinical negligence and deals with a variety of cases. In particular Jemma has dealt with cases relating to delays in diagnosis of cancer, including breast cancer, cervical cancer and stomach cancer. Jemma also works on cases where patients have suffered injuries either because their GP or hospital doctor failed to correctly diagnose their condition and on cases where patients have been given incorrect treatment. Jemma also has experience of dealing with fatal cases where people have sadly died due to negligent care or treatment they received from their doctor or hospital.
Jemma has settled a wide variety of clinical negligence cases and recently recovered a five figure sum for a gentleman whose wife died unnecessarily when she attended the local A&E department and the doctors did not give her the appropriate medication for her condition. Jemma has also recovered a significant sum for a family whose wife and mother died as a result of a delay in diagnosis of breast cancer.
Jemma also assists more experienced members of the team with complex high-value claims, often involving birth injuries such as Erb’s Palsy and child brain injury and has assisted in obtaining interim payments for children so that their families can arrange for carers to help look after them and to buy equipment to help make life easier for the children and their families.
Jemma understands that the clinical negligence procedure can seem daunting and complex to clients and their families so she always makes sure that her clients understand every step of the process as their claim progresses.
Jemma is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and is an accredited Litigator.
When Jemma is not working she enjoys socialising with friends, travelling abroad, and camping – but only when the weather is good!
