Darren is a solicitor in the London office. Darren qualified as a solicitor in 2003 and specialises in helping those who have suffered an avoidable injury in a medical setting. Darren has considerable experience of clinical negligence claims, having worked for a leading niche practice and a leading regional law firm prior to joining Irwin Mitchell.
Darren has acted for both adults and children who have suffered injuries in a range of medical specialities including in a GP setting, cardiology, oncology, orthopaedics, surgery and general medicine, anaesthetics and, particularly, obstetrics and gynaecology. As a result of his background in molecular genetics Darren has a particular interest in cases involving inherited conditions and genetics. For example, a misdiagnosis, or a delay in diagnosis, or where antenatal testing has resulted in the avoidable birth of a child with a specific genetic syndrome.
Before he qualified as a solicitor, Darren had a career in molecular genetics, in which he obtained a PhD. As a geneticist he worked on some cutting edge projects tying to identify the genetic cause of specific neurological conditions, mainly at the Institute of Neurology and University College London, both in London, and at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (USA).
