Rachelle is the head of the Medical Law team in Leeds. She has a particular interest in complex brain and spinal injury claims.

She has over 15 years experience of dealing with complex medical negligence claims. Her particular interest is dealing with complex brain injury arising out of obstetric or surgical mismanagement, spinal injury cases, surgical negligence and late diagnosis of cancer resulting in premature death.

In the past she has acted for the former patients of two psychiatrists who sexually abused patients on a Government ordered enquiry. Irwin Mitchell subsequently dealt with more than 30 former patients’ damages claims.

In the last 12 months she has won compensation for a three week old baby where the GP and hospitals failed to diagnose herpes simplex virus winning in excess of £5million in compensation. She won in the High Court when acting on behalf of a child with severe cerebral palsy which will again result in left changing compensation. Other notable cases include a man who was spinally injured and is now paralysed due to negligent surgery.

She is a member of the Law Society Clinical Negligence panel and a referral solicitor for the Charity Action against medical Accidents. She is also a Fellow of the Association of personal injury lawyers.

Chambers & Partners Legal Directory 2011 edition praises Rachelle’s work, describing her as "very client-oriented", and she has "empathy and desire to get the best for her clients."  Peers are also keen to praise her "excellent work rate" and "ability to handle high-level, complex work quickly and efficiently."
