Sara is a Partner in the Birmingham office and leads one of the Medical Law and Patients Rights teams. Sara has extensive experience in a wide variety of claims with a particular expertise in obstetric and wrongful birth claims and has specialised in Clinical Negligence since 1996.
She has led cases where children have been born with disabilities, either following a failed sterilisation or where their mother would not have chosen to continue with the pregnancy had she been told about the disabilities.
Amongst the cases Sara has worked on, one involved a mother who was awarded £2.5 million after her daughter was born with an illness that left her physically and mentally handicapped. Another case Sara has concluded includes a sixteen year old boy who was awarded £5.5 million following an injury days after he was born. His family have always been committed to looking after him and this money will allow them to ensure he is cared for for the rest of his life.
Sara considers the best part of her job is enabling people to find out what really happened to them or their family and to take them through what is often a complex and lengthy legal process to allow them to then get on with their lives.
Chambers 2012 describes Sara as "focused and industrious, with a great understanding of clinical negligence." It also states "One client highlighted her 'great balance of the personal and professional - she made me feel at ease."
