Caroline is an Associate specialising exclusively in medical negligence claims on behalf of patients, and has secured many significant settlements in a broad range of medical fields.
Having completed her studies at Warwick University and Nottingham Law School, Caroline gained valuable experience representing families of the victims of Harold Shipman at the Public Inquiry, before commencing her formal legal training at a well-recognised Midlands firm.
Since qualifying as a clinical negligence solicitor in 2003, Caroline has developed a specialist interest in Cerebral Palsy claims, and recently helped secure a settlement for a boy whose jaundice had been inappropriately treated after birth. The compensation payment, which would be the equivalent of £9 million if it was paid as a lump sum, will help to provide a 24-hour professional care regime for the rest of his life, accommodation adapted to his needs, and specialist aids and equipment.
Another notable case involved the tragic death of a young woman following a delayed diagnosis of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, and a substantial settlement was achieved to help compensate her two young children for their sad loss.
Caroline has a particular interest in claims involving delayed diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis. If left untreated, this can lead to a potentially fatal pulmonary embolism, and these cases have understandably attracted considerable press interest.
Caroline prides herself on the high quality service she offers to her clients, and she gains satisfaction from helping families who have often been through traumatic experiences. She appreciates that compensation is not always the primary objective in pursuing clinical negligence claims, and that many clients are anxious for answers, explanations and apologies. She supports patients and their families sensitively through what can be a complex legal process, and ensures that they understand what is happening every step of the way.
Outside of work, Caroline enjoys singing with the City of Birmingham Choir, and keeping up to date with all of the latest films at the cinema.
